Orroli

Orroli is a municipality in the province of Cagliari with about 2,500 inhabitants, in the Sarcidano region.

The town is located on the slopes of the basalt plateau of ‘Pranemuru’, about 68 km from Cagliari.

The fundamental resource of this municipality is the extraordinary concentration of vestiges from the past. In the territory are distributed habitation sites and hypogeic necropolises from the Final Neolithic and Early Metal Age, Bronze and Iron Age monuments, together with evidence from the Roman and Early Medieval Ages.

The entire plateau is also dotted with dozens of monuments from the Nuragic civilisation that give a characteristic imprint to the entire landscape. Above all, for the majesty and vastness of its structures and for its considerable scientific importance, is certainly the Nuraghe Arrubiu, the most important and complex megalithic monument among those present on the island and among the most important in all of western Europe.

Although archaeological research is still ongoing, today the Nuraghe Arrubiu has become an important tourist attraction, equipped with the most modern accommodation facilities.
